Break Down stared menacingly at the fearful stallion in front of him. "Take your crap and go." He said to the shaking pony. He shakily walked outside, only to be met by a sword-weilding me, who drove her blade through his chest, killing him quickly. I walked to the top of the tower and sheathed my now blood-covered sword. I looked around the room.
"Nice stuff. I could use a rifle." I said to the ponies in front of me, who didn't acknowledge me further than turning their ears behind them to hear me. After stripping the tower of anything valuable such as food, weapons, and ammunition, we prepared to head back to our camp. I headed to the tree at which out captive was held. She was staring mortified at the knife embedded in the tree trunk, which was covered in her friend's blood. I walked up to the mare, who did her best to cower away in fear while stuck to a tree trunk.
"Kid, I'm gonna let you go now, and you're not gonna run away, mkay?" I said to her. She nodded weakly. "But just in case that wasn't clear enough, if you do run away, B.D. here will snap your neck."
The pony felt an odd sensation around her neck, confirming the fact. I removed the knife from the trunk, then pulled the pony to her feet and shoved her in front of me. I pushed her along with a simple "Walk." and we were off.
"By the way guys, where am I gonna sleep tonight?" I asked the group.
"That's your problem" one of the newer ponies replied. We continued our walk in science while I thought of places to build a shelter to sleep in.
When we arrived at camp, I searched around until I found a small clearing of trees that I could board up, making a sort of oval barricade. It would have to do for now. I grabbed some rope from one of the supply cache's we had found in the tower, and tied up my captive to one of the trees whist I looked for debris to use in making the barricade. After about an hour, I had found what I deemed enough wooden planks to create a simple barricade, so I borrowed a hammer and some nails from a raider and went to start building. I talked to my captive while I worked.
"Listen, kid. This may come as a surprise to you, but I don't want to be here. However, I have nowhere else to go, so I'm stuck here for a while, just like you. If I'm ever going to go out and brave the rest of the wasteland, I need friends. So that's where you come in." I told her.
"So you killed all my friends, took all their stuff, and took me captive just so you could have a sidekick?!" She asked for the first time, in a fit of rage. She had a rather high voice.
"No. They-" I said, pointing towards the raider camp, "They did all that because they're raiders. I only saved you because I need someone I can trust in the wasteland, which may or may not be you. We'll find out eventually. Now, because I saved you, and because I said so, none of the other raiders will hurt you as long as you stay near me. Okay?" I told her.
"I hate you." She said back.
"Look at it this way, kiddo. Wouldn't you rather be alive, in the hooves of somepony you can trust, than dead in a pool of your own blood, rotting, without anyone else in the wasteland caring? Oh, and by the way, I think I'll call you kid from now on."
She didn't reply.
